Personally, I get drawn in like a kid in a candy store and I can barely resist making hasty purchases of gingerbread homes and light-up candlesticks. But beyond the colourful decorations and eccentric salesmen, there is a special kind of joy that many of us get from this season and that’s because it tastes so delicious!
O Christmas treat, o Christmas treats, why do you have to taste so good? Oh well, you won’t see my guilty conscience firing in the next few weeks! I love to indulge in anything that can satisfy my sweet tooth and bring a jolly smile to my face! The Icon Chef Pastry Pro, designed by Betty Bossi, is one product that can achieve both those goals! This funky kitchenware device makes fun pastry desserts in a matter of seconds. Create parcels, boats, and pinwheels with little effort and a big wow effect. So, in the Christmas spirit, I have decided to show you one delicious recipe that the Pastry Pro can produce.
APRICOT AND MARZIPAN PARCELS
Preparation time: approx. 25 min.
Baking: approx. 15 min
Makes approx. 12 parcels
100 g dried apricots
1 roll of white modelling marzipan (approx. 80 g)
1 portion cake dough, rolled out (approx. 25 x 42 cm)
Flour for dusting
1 egg, beaten
Icing sugar for dusting
- Preheat oven to 200˚C.
- Mix the apricots & marzipan, knead & shape into 12 balls for filling.
- Cut & fill dough according to instructions (see Pastry Pro leaflet). Lay the parcels on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Place tray in oven and bake for 15 min. Remove tray and place boats on rack to cool.
- Dust with icing sugar.
This recipe is sure to get the taste buds tingling! The pastries are deliciously crispy and it really is an easy way to have a European-style Christmas and perhaps show off to some family members!
